Fiber Facts - Many Benefits

A high fiber diet may contribute to weight loss and muscle gain by helping to maintain healthy blood sugar levels. Adequate intake of fiber in conjunction with a calorie controlled diet and exercise is good for overall health and wellness.

Fiber is found in the cell walls of plants and can be obtained from food sources such as fruits, vegetables, oat bran, beans, grains and psyllium. Because of its chemical structure, it is indigestible to humans and remains completely intact as it travels through the body. It is actually a carbohydrate, but acts differently since it cannot be broken down into its basic glucose building blocks.

Fiber is also beneficial in its effect on slowing down the rate of gastric emptying. Gastric emptying is the process where foods are moved from the stomach to the small intestine. When you consume foods containing fiber, they become "gelled" in your stomach and slow down this process. The small intestine is where most nutrients are absorbed and pumped into the bloodstream. By slowing down the transfer of food to the small intestine your body will be able to extract the nutrients much more efficiently.

This "timed-release" effect will also keep your body in an anabolic state for longer and decrease the chances of muscle catabolism setting in. For more fiber facts... Click Here

Do you need a daily facial scrub?

Daily facial scrub leaves your skn healthy, soft and radiant.Caring for your skin is important for good health and beauty, but especially so if you are prone to acne. One of the best ways to keep acne under control is to maintain your skin's health as much as possible. This means keeping the skin clean and protecting it from damage from sunshine and harsh cosmetics.

Cleansing Your Skin: Cleanse your face twice a day with a good cleanser or special acne skin cleanser, using a gentle, circular motion of the fingertips. Do not scrub, since this can aggravate acne. Moisten the face with warm water, then apply cleanser from the hairline to the neck. Rinse with lots of water and pat dry with a soft towel.

Those with especially oily skin may need to use an astringent, but it must be alcohol-free, and used with care. Apply it only to the oiliest parts of the face and discontinue use immediately if your skin becomes irritated. If you feel you need an astringent, you may want to see a dermatologist instead.

A daily facial scrub, helps you achieve a healthy, vibrant complexion. Exfoliating removes dry and dead skin cells, that may result in mottled, ashy looking skin. Learn more about healthy skin care... Click Here
