Spring is here and summer is coming are you in shape? Do you want to get back into shape? Do you know how to get into shape?
Well I'm not going to be so pretentious as to explain what you already know. But let's examine what being in shape is. There is the medical criteria, you know ideal weight, body fat content and muscle tone. Psycologically though being in shape is relative to your own experience.
When you think of yourself in terms of where you are now and where you want to be in the future it becomes a different story. Being in shape is different for everybody. For me that means having the energy to be productive all day and be close to my ideal weight.
For someone else being in shape may mean running and winning marathons. The difference lies in each persons goals and ideas not what your peers are doing. It's a personal thing more than a medical condition.
When I was 26 I was in great shape. I had very little body fat, lots of muscle tone and was at my ideal weight. By the time I was 40 I had gained 30 pounds and lost all my muscles. It was then I decided to do something about it. Within 1 year I had lost 22 pounds and regained my muscle tone. I was not in the kind of shape I was in when I was 26 but I felt that I achieved my goal.
How to get back into shape, is deciding what shape you want to be in. Then doing what you consider the right method to achieve your goals. That doesn't necessarily mean dieting your brains out or exercising until you drop. It simply means improving your health till you are comfortable with your body.
