Herbal Solution Toothaches

A herbal solution-toothaches can be just what your dentist doesn't want you to know. Last weekend I went racing in my go kart and got into a racing accident. One of my competitors lost control and got sideways right in front of me. Even though I tried to avoid him, I slammed into him pretty hard. Fortunately, we both drove away with only a few bent chassis parts. Scary as it was, the only real damage is to the cars which are easily repairable.

So, the toothache I felt Wednesday morning seemed like an after affect of the crash. No problem I thought, rattled teeth are common in bone jarring accidents, like the one I had. Not to worry, a targeted herbal nutrition solution would be all I needed. Just take the right minerals, vitamins and herbs and I'll be fine, I thought. That normally works for me but I was not quite right about that one. By Wednesday night the pain in my tooth had grown. On Thursday morning I made an appointment to see my dentist about a sore tooth.

That is when the real trouble started. I had another warm bowl of vegatable soup (which should have helped) and drank some more aloe concentrate, but the pain got worse and my jaw started to swell. My jaw kept on swelling and swelling to the point where I did not get much sleep that night. By the time I saw my dentist on Friday the swelling looked like a baseball had been inserted into my cheek. I knew then, that I had a serious infection.

Doctor Lanny Lesser (my dentist) said I had a bad abcess in molar #19. Which really surprised me because it is molar #20 that hurts like the dickens. The Doc said that is called sypmathetic pain. I felt the pain in a different tooth because the infection is deep and will travel to other teeth. The dental assistant put it right on the money when she said "Oh Tim, you waited too long".

I guess so, it was 40 years ago that I had a cap put on molar #19. I broke it while ice skating when I was 11 years old. Apparently about 4 years ago a tiny hole developed in that cap. Doctor Lanny said that eventually it would need replacing. That I would know when that would be. Well, that tooth let me know big time that it needs attension right now.

So, why did I wait so long? Let me first point out that you should never, ever disregard the advice of your dentist. At the time (4 years ago) I had other more pressing dental issues to attend to, so that one could wait. And the tooth in question has a gold cap that I didn't want to replace. In the short term I waited a couple of days because I knew that targeted nutrition solutions are helpful in relieving pain, reducing stress, promote healing, reducing periodontal disease, enhance immunity and destroy bacteria. With some targeted nutrition I am usually fine in a day or two. Not this tme.

In the past when I rattled a few teeth I took aloe vera, green tea and vitamins with excellent results. So that is what I did this time. I took Total Control tablets (green tea with metabolism boosters) and Herbal Concentrate (green tea with herbs), a good multivitamin and that worked great. I also made sure I got plenty of rest and fluids. I was mildly surprised when the toothache persisted, because of the success I've had before with this combination.

Teeth have a nerve on the inside which is the root in root canal. When this nerve becomes aggravated, infected or sensitive it sends the pain signal to the brain. Sometimes, the root is just aggravated or sensitive, but not infected. This time my tooth was seriously infected. So I made the appointment with my dentist.

Doctor Lanny is an superb, highly trained dentist, and I trust him. So I asked him what vitamins or herbs I can use to treat this infection. He said that he was going to refer me to a root canal specialist who could answer my questions. So, I went to see the root canal specialist, Doctor Krista and asked her what vitamins or herbs I could use to treat this infection. She said that vitamins and herbs are good but I needed a strong (prescribed) antibiotic and to rinse my mouth with salt water often.

When I got home, I looked up sodium chloride (salt) in my *Herbal Reference Guide, to see what it was good for. Here is what the book says about sodium chloride: 1. Table Salt, 2. flavoring 3. preservative. 4. an astringent and an antiseptic. While this salt water should have flavor (it doesn't, at least not to me) it should help to keep the area clean and help reduce the infection. Other than that it has little to no nutritional value for the healing process.

Continuing through the book of herbal references I found many more vitamins and herbs that would be good for a sore tooth. I was looking specifically for reducing the swelling, beating the infection, relieving pain and as a sleep aid to reduce stress. Here is what I found:

*Vitamin A: Key in formulation of bones and teeth. Enhances growth and repair of body tissues. Enhances immunity by protecting mucous membranes.

*Vitamin B6: Involved in more body functions than any other single nutrient. Aids in the production of antibodies (which fight infections).

*Vitamin C: Greatly enhances immunity, is good for bones and aids in tissue growth.

*Vitamin E: Is linked to inflammation reduction. Prevents cell damage and repairs tissue while reducing scarring. Red blood cell coenzyme and antibody formulator.

*Aloe Vera: Botanical purgative which stimulates the flow and discharge of bile into the small intestine. Soothing and healing lubricant for internal and external use. Antibacterial and antifungul properties. Helps heal ulcers.

*Ashwagandha extract (dried root): Acts as a seditive and helps with joint pain. (A good sleeping aid).

*Calcium: Critical in the formation of strong bones and teeth. Affects sleep paterns and the transmission of nerve impulses. Maintains a regular heart beat.

*Carrot: Rich in beta-carotene (vitamin A): Antioxidant enhances immunity by protecting mucous membranes. Key in formation of bones and teeth. Enhances growth and repair of body tissue.

*Garlic: Major medicinal herb used for countless purposes. Is a stimulant and powerful antibiotic, antiviral, antifungal and parasiticide.

*German Chamomile (flower): grown in the United States: Used as a seditive and is an excellent nerve tonic and sleep aid.

*Goldenseal (root): Used as a herbal antibiotic, antibacterial and antiseptic agent. Purifies mucous membranes.

*Green Tea: Enhances immunity and destroys bacteria. Effective as an antiviral and antioxidant. Helps with periodontal disease. Plus many more healthful properties.

*Hops Extract, dried (Humulus Lupulus): Known as a potent seditive. Relieves pain. Relieves insomnia.

*L-Arginine (amino acid): Potent antioxidant aids the immune system in decreasing and destroying bacteria, virus and cancer cells. Reduces healing time of injuries (especially bones and teeth).

*Melatonin: Biological time keeper helps induce sleep. Is an antioxidant.

*Onion powder: Works against infection, lowers blood pressure and reduces spasms.

*Orange (fruit bioflaviniods): A group of phytochemicals that work with vitamin C to keep the body healthy, reduce risk of cancer, strengthen bones and teeth and helps heal wounds. Has antiviral, anticancer and antiallergenic actions.

The anti-inflammitory and collegen repair action may help joint and connective tissue problems (like jaw muscles). By supporting capillaries they help prevent hemmorage and rupture of tiny vessels which lead to bruising, bleeding gums and ulcers.

*Passion Flower extract (dried): Relieves pain, acts as a seditive, relaxes spasms and lowers blood pressure (which reduces stress).

*Riboflavin (vitamin B2): Necessary for cell formation, reproduction and growth. Facilitates oxygen and antibody production.

*Tomato Concentrate (fruit): High in vitamin A & C. Useful for treatment of colds and flu (symptoms).

When the pain first started I took most of the above mentioned herbs and vitmains. And they helped enormously, I was able to sleep, relieve the pain and reduce my stress level. With a targeted nutrition approach, I was able to stave off the infection for 2 days (more than normal), sleep good and get some pain relief without drugs. Must be a strong bacteria to not be eradicated as expected. So I turned to the medical professionals.

In the meantime, I have had 2 oral surgeries to drain fluids due to the infection and reduce the swelling. I am also scheduled for more oral surgery. Then, I bought the doctor prescribed drugs (antibiotics and pain relievers), took them and they helped reduce the swelling and lower the pain some more, I think. I'm not convinced that the drugs have helped any more than the herbal nutrition solution. It was definitly the oral surgery that has worked the best, so far. As I have said before, improved herbal nutrition solutions can help prevent or relieve symptoms of disease but for medical care you should always consult a health care professional.

A herbal solution for toothaches take a good multivitamin with orange juice, drink green tea, eat your vegatables, drink Herbal Aloe Drink and Total Control are recommended. Also, risne your mouth often with a salt water solution to keep the area clean and disinfected. As mom (and other health professionals) say, you should get plenty of rest, take your vitamins and eat vegatble soup. Don't wait to make the call to your dentist if you think you have a serious medical problem.
