Don't eat all the samples at the grocery store
by Bill
(Over the hill)
Reason #1 to NOT sample everything at the grocery store.
Taste is 90% smell, When you eat something most of the flavor is sensed by your nose. This means you don't have to taste everything to know if you are going to like it or not.
I was at a grocery outlet yesterday that had food sampling stations every 20 feet. The aromas were endlessly appealing. The variety was amazing and the temptation was deleriously strong. But the will power kicked in and I managed to avoid snacking on everything in site.
An added benefit is that I didn't spend money on foods that I'd regret buying later. Sure, you should eat something before you go grocery shopping so that you select your food based on good meal planning and not hunger.
Some may argue that sampling foods at the grocery store is a good way to eat without paying. Think about it though if you sample something and find it delicious wouldn't you feel guity if you liked it but didn't buy. On the other hand if it smells good, fits your budget and goes into your meals plans, then you have 3 good reasons to purchase, right?
Tip: don't sample everything at the grocery store, if you do you may end up buying foods you don't really want. Sampling all the food at the grocery store may add more calories to your diet than you planned. If you count calories you may go over your budget and feel guilty later, or worse you may plan to not eat the foods that you sampled.
