Herbal Hair Products

Hi there:
I am in the process of preparing my own herbal shampoos, body wash, and conditioners for my family. My mixture works well, smells good, and feels good, but it looks horrible. After I poured all the cooled herbal ingredients into the bottle, the mixture was very watery - but it worked fine. However, I wanted the mixture to look the same but with a more thickened consistency. So I went back to the drawing board and re-heated the mixture and added Xanthan Gum (powder) until I got the right consistency. Unfortunately, now the mixture is thick and cloudy. I wanted it to just be thick like other shampoos I have seen. Can you offer any advice that will help me get the thickness with out the cloudy look?
Thanks,
LS

Dear LS, I am not an alchemist like you. I use Herbalife's Aloe Shampoo and Conditioner which is also cloudy but looks like shampoo. It seems to me that cloudy isn't bad. Clumpy looking would be bad. Herbalife packages some of the shampoos in a green opaque bottle. The shampoo itself is green in color so it looks fine.
A friend of mine put forth this analogy. If the wrapper doesn't look good it doesn't matter how good the contents are. For instance when you buy a candy bar, you choose it because the wrapper looks good not because the candy inside looks good.
Try making the product look green and don't worry too much about the cloudiness. How do you think Herbalife got so big? It's not just because the products work great but also because the marketing is very appealing too.
Hope this helps
