Nutritional Shake Mix for breakfast
Every weight loss program needs to start somewhere. The question is where? Breakfast is the answer. One day you may say to yourself "today is the day I start to lose weight".
So, that's me. Today I decided to set a new goal of a 10 pound weight loss in a month. Not too lofty s goal, should be easy, right? Jusy consume less calories than I burn and voila weight loss.
OK, I have the motivation and the goal and now I need a starting place. I chose breakfast. Usually I skip it and just take vitamins and supplements and go. Which is not real condusive to losing weight. When you skip breakfast your body does not have the fuel it should to get you going. Then a little later on you will start to feel hungry.
So, you eat a mid-morning snack to start the engines running. Which it does but then lunch comes and you eat again. Nothing wrong with this picture, right?
Wrong! This pattern leads your body to believe that your metabolism won't get going till mid morning. So you end up eating that late night snack. Why, you ask. Because your metabolism wants you to store enough energy for the skipped breakfast the next day.
Your metabolism goes up and down during the day. Depending on how much activity and how much fuel you have to burn, your metabolism keeps pace accordingly. Eating when your tired or hungry is the way to do it, right?
Wrong, your metabolism will get used to this pattern and will want to consume enough calories to keep you going for longer periods of time. You then end up with a pattern that causes your metabolism to speed up and then slow down. So guess what happens after you just ate a big lunch?
Your digestive system kicks in and spends a lot of energy processing that big lunch your metabolism wanted. So instead of getting a boost you get the nods (a slower metabolism). You may then go for the caffiene to get you going again.
Eating breakfast can change this pattern of metabolism bouncing. Having a decent nutritional breakfast first thing in the morning gets your metabolism going sooner in the day. By doing this you can begin to even out your metabolic rate during the day. Allowing you to burn calories all day long.
By having an even metabolic rate you can eat when your metabolism slows, not when it runs on empty. Eating smaller portions more often you will give you an even digestive routine that doesn't require you to overeat and store calories for later usage.
So breakfast it is. Get your metabolism going first thing in the morning for a consistent metabolic rate during the day. Try not to over-do breakfast though. Overeating at any time during the day will trigger a lot of digestive activity that can slow your metabolism down and defeat the purpose.
For breakfast today I had Cookies & Creme with Key Lime Pie and did it ever taste good. Of course I'm refering to the flavors of my nutritional shake mix with yogurt in soy milk. Containing about 200 calories and 19 grams of protein. Now I'm ready to go and I feel good about my weight loss start.
