Want to lose weight, take the stairs

Take a hike and lose weight.
Can anybody guess how big Ford's Research and Engineering Center is? With over 80 buildings in about 5 square miles it's really big. Now imagine hiking everywhere on that campus. Well, I'll say this it takes a year of walking 8 hours days to cover it all.
That was my job. As a surveyor of electrical equipment, I walked everywhere recording all the apparatus. With all the information I gathered my company was able to create safety labels for each piece that was there.
Guess who the company tapped on the shoulder to go around and apply all those (several thousand) labels? Now imagine walking all around that campus twice. It's a good thing I was in shape (and knew all the short-cuts).
The best part is, I lost 20 pounds doing it. Before I started I couldn't imagine hiking up 4 flights of stairs. But I was determined to take the stairs and lose the weight, (and the elevator). Over time I could climb 4 flights of stairs faster than the elevator could.
The moral of this story is that combining excercise with my weight loss efforts was very effective. Did I mention that I was taking metabolism boosters and vitamins to help lose weight and keep going? Geez, did that ever work!
